The theme of Fahrenheit 451 is important in the today’s world because it teaches the importance of books to the teenagers of year 2007 who has completely forgotten about it. (Before, I go on let me explain why it emphasizes the importance of book so much; in the novel people never stop to think, explore ones own mind and feelings or did they ever considered other peoples situation and books are what puts people in a stop and make them think; not just about the book but just think, which is extremely important) Teaching the theme of the book became much more important and necessary than the era it was published because, many events in the book are becoming the reality of the today’s world: people spend a lot of time brainlessly watching TV, listening to their iPods at high volume, playing on their computers all day, chatting on Msn or such rather than actually talking and have a conversation with other people, and doing drugs and drinking alcohol to escape reality. What is more, not only are the events of the book becoming a reality of today, but the people in the real world are becoming people like in the book, for example, people of today’s world make their decisions quickly without fully analyzing and thinking through the situation (including their situation and other people’s) just like Montage’s wife, who carelessly demands another wall not caring about how hard and long Montage works for the money that she carelessly spends.
